Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with President Trump at the White House on Thursday after spending the afternoon talking to lawmakers on Capitol Hill, the company said in a statement.
Zuckerberg had a “constructive” meeting with Trump after speaking with lawmakers about internet regulation, Facebook said.
“Mark is in Washington, D.C., meeting with policymakers to hear their concerns and talk about future internet regulation,” a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement.
“He also had a good, constructive meeting with President Trump at the White House today,” the spokesperson added.
Trump tweeted about the meeting and included an image from the Oval Office on Thursday night.
“Nice meeting with Mark Zuckerberg of @Facebook in the Oval Office today,” Trump wrote.
Since taking office in 2016, Trump has repeatedly criticized Facebook, claiming the social media platform favors liberals while censoring conservatives who post on the site.
Most recently, he tweeted that the platform is on the side of the “Radical Left Democrats.”
