A Washington woman was reportedly arrested and charged with killing her husband Sunday, but she claimed it was done in self defense — telling police “he was trying to kill me.”

Stephanie Westby, 47, was charged with murdering her 51-year-old husband Joseph Westby at the couples Camas, Wash. home, according to KATU 2.

When officers arrived, Joseph Westby was already dead from a gunshot wound.

Before the shooting, Stephanie called 911 and “reported that [her husband] was threatening to kill her and attack her, and she acted in self-defense,” her attorney, Steve Thayer, told the outlet.

Stephanie later repeated the claim to police, telling them “he attacked me and said he was going to kill me,” the report said, citing court documents.
