The Safer Tourism Foundation has launched a new video campaign to alert young people to the potential dangers of getting separated from friends while on holiday.
A series of short films has been created by the charity for use on social media featuring workers in Magaluf giving advice to youngsters on how to best look after themselves in busy party resorts.
Chief executive Katherine Atkinson told TTG the organisation, founded in 2016 following the deaths of Bobby and Christi Shepherd from carbon monoxide poisoning while on holiday in Corfu a decade previously, wanted to take a “relatable and frank approach” to the issue.
“When young people get separated from those they are holidaying with, and find themselves in unfamiliar environments, they can do things out of character and behave in a way they wouldnt if they were in the UK,” she said.
Atkinson explained how a number of in-resort deaths and injuries in recent years had prompted young peoples safety to form the focal point for its summer safety campaign this year.
