The US womens soccer team will be visiting Washington, DC, after all — but not for a trip to the White House.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) inserted herself into the feud between team captain Megan Rapinoe and President Trump, inviting the squad to the US Capitol.
“It may not be the White House, but wed be happy to welcome @mPinoe & the entire #USWMNT for a tour of the House of Representatives anytime theyd like,” AOC tweeted to Rapinoe on Friday, after the team beat France for a spot in the semifinals.
“Consider it done,” Rapinoe responded.
Another freshman Democrat, Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, piled on.
“No doubt the food & the company would be much better,” Pressley tweeted — a dig at Trump and his habit of providing fast-food feasts for visiting sports teams.
