Suspect wanted in Virginia doctors slaying denies involvement

An alleged Belizean gangster wanted in the slayings of a Virginia doctor and a tour guide in San Pedro insists his hands are “clean” in the cold-blooded murders, according to a report.

Christian Espat, 23, turned himself in to police Thursday in the murders of cardiologist Gary Swank and his guide Mario Graniel, Belize Live News reported.

“I am going to hand in myself because I know I am innocent of this charge,” Espat said in a video posted to social media. “I dont have anything to do with this.”

Police announced Tuesday that Espat was wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting Sunday during the pairs fly fishing trip in San Pedro Town lagoon.

“I am handing over myself clean I dont have any bruises,” Espat said. “I dont have anything on me — clean, clean.”

The San Pedro town resident said that hes repeatedly been wrongfully blamed for crimes on his long rap sheet, which includes the murder of an American expat who was killed in an armed robbery last year.

“Like usual, they always charged me for no reason,” Espat said. “That is a fact. That always happens to me.”

Swank and Graniel, both 53, were fatally shot around 10 a.m. Sunday while on a fishi
