Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she loved Spanish-speaking attempts by some of the Democratic presidential candidates Wednesday night, but found their question dodging in the language “humorous.”
The Bronx Democrat spoke with host Stephen Colbert in an appearance on the “Late Show” soon after the first presidential primary debate in Miami, where Rep. Beto ORourke and Sen. Cory Booker both spoke in Spanish while answering — and dodging — questions from NBC moderators.
“I loved it because … I represent the Bronx — there was a lot of Spanglish in the building,” Ocasio-Cortez told Colbert.
“I thought it was humorous at times,” she added.
She then said in Spanish that she thought some of the candidates were going to start responding: “I will not give you an answer to your question.”
