Arsenal boss Unai Emery says hes proud of the club and its supporters for their efforts this season despite a crushing 4-1 defeat in the Europa League final.

The Gunners failed to qualify for the Champions League via their fifth-place Premier League position and needed to beat Chelsea in Baku, Azerbaijan to gain entry into the competition.

However, a double from Eden Hazard on his final appearance for the club as well as goals from Pedro and Olivier Giroud ensured the trophy made its way to west London.

Emery had won all three of his previous finals in the competition and the Spaniard admitted he was hurting when he took to his Twitter on Thursday night but insisted the process of building towards next season had already begun.

Not easy to find the words to describe how we feel today, but here is an important one: Proud… of our team, our club, our fans, of the huge effort of all of us since day 1. Proud to be part of the @Arsenal family. Today we start building next seasons Arsenal. Forward together! pic.twitter.com/fYGMkPv1dy
