David De Gea issued an apology to his Manchester United teammates in the dressing room after his mistake against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

United had taken the lead through Juan Mata in Sundays clash but Marcos Alonso capitalised on another error from De Gea to score Chelseas equaliser in the 1-1 draw.

The Spain international is currently going through one of his worst spells since joining United as he has made three mistakes in his last four games.

According to The Sun, De Gea spoke to his United teammates at half-time before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave his team talk and apologised for his error.

A source at United told The Sun: He held his hands up at half-time and said sorry to the guys and said he had f***ed up.

He could not believe he had done it and was absolutely gutted. He felt like he had let the whole team and Ole down.

The boss told him to forget about it and focus on the second-half which he did and made a couple of good saves.

Solskjaer has insisted that he will not drop De Gea following his dip in form, while Romelu Lukaku insists the 28-year-old deserves to be backed.

Now it is up to us as a team to help him and trust his abilities. We have to move forward now, said Lukaku.
