Manchester United star Paul Pogba stands to earn around £3.4million in bonuses this month should he reject the advances of Barcelona, Metro.co.uk understands.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga this summer and his relationship with Jose Mourinho is said to be at an all-time low.

Pogba was made captain by Mourinho for Uniteds opening day win against Leicester and the 25-year-old scored from the penalty spot during a man-of-the-match display.

However, the Frenchman did little to quash reports that he is unhappy at Old Trafford after the game when he stopped for reporters and said: There are things I can say and there are things that I cannot say, otherwise I will get fined.

While Pogbas maintained a close raport with his team-mates since returning from the World Cup, his relationship with Mourinho has deteriorated behind the scenes.

Barcelona are monitoring the midfielders situation and could make things difficult for United by moving for him in the next fortnight given Premier League clubs can no longer sign players.

However, Metro.co.uk understands Pogba will receive a £3.4m bonus if he stays at the club for the remainder of the month due to a clause in his contract.

United paid a then-world record £89m fee for Pogba in 2016 and his agent Mino Raiola received around £15m for the deal.

However, as well as making Pogba one of the clubs highest paid players, United included a number of clauses in the midfielders deal including incentives based on qualifying for the Champions League.

The Red Devils insist that Pogba is not for sale this summer and feel the midfielder is simply aggrieved at Mourinhos comments following his displays at the World Cup.

Mourinho is expected to address Pogbas comments to the media in his press conference on Friday ahead of his sides clash against Brighton on Sunday.
