Deontay Wilder has made Anthony Joshua an offer via email in a bid to secure a fight between the pair later this year.
The WBC belt holder has offered Joshua a 50/50 split, with a guaranteed £35.9m ($50m) for the British boxer.
The offer was emailed to Eddie Hearn and Joshuas trainer Rob McCracken. Wilder also used social media to publicise the terms, which included a video of Joshua saying an offer of £50m would be enough to take the fight.
Joshuas promoter Hearn has indicated he is taking the offer seriously, but wants some guarantees the money exists.
But it comes with conditions attached. Wilder will be able to pick the venue for the fight and Joshuas team have been told to give them a response by midnight tonight.
Its a great move from Deontay. It makes everyone say: “Youve got to take the fight now”, said Hearn.
We really want to do the fight in the UK because weve built something special there.
But if theres substantial money to do it elsewhere we will definitely look at it. In my opinion its got to be in the UK or possibly Vegas.
He continued: Its not a case of we sign the contract and they go and raise the money. If youve got it – show us it and then we can talk.
I spoke to AJ – he knows the situation but we want to know if its real. We want to see the money and know where it is.
Theres a real strong chance this fight could happen – were not looking to be difficult.
